What is Practical Ministry Assessment?

At Trinity Theological College, your training is built on three pillars โ€” Head (academic study), Heart (spiritual formation), and Hand (practical ministry). The Practical Ministry Assessment measures the Hand โ€” your outward involvement in ministry, service, digital work, prayer, and church participation.

Every month, your teacher will assess how actively and faithfully you are engaged in ministry. The result counts toward your final term grade for Practical Ministry.

Why it matters
Practical Ministry is not just about completing tasks. It is about developing faithful habits of service, ministry skill, and spiritual discipline that will prepare you for a lifetime of ministry.

The 6 Areas You Are Assessed On

Your monthly Practical Ministry grade is made up of six areas totalling 100 marks.

A
Digital Ministry Assignments
WhatsApp status videos, devotional reels, Bible verse graphics, testimony videos, sermon clips, or other digital gospel content you create and share.
20
B
Devotional / Biblical Communication
Recorded or live devotional, Scripture reading, prayer leading, or a short gospel message โ€” done sincerely and clearly.
15
C
Prayer and Spiritual Discipline
Weekly prayer partner meetings, prayer records, personal reflection, and chaplain or teacher verification of your sincerity.
20
D
Fasting Prayer Participation
Attendance and active participation in weekly and monthly fasting prayer sessions. Recorded from your attendance register.
15
E
Church / Youth / Main Service Ministry
Active service in any area โ€” singing, instruments, media, sound, camera, ushering, hospitality, Sunday school, outreach, or other service roles.
20
F
Additional Ministry Initiative
Any extra ministry you take on beyond your assigned duties โ€” extra digital content, prayer ministry, outreach, hospitality, student help, and more.

How Each Area is Rated

For each of the 6 areas, your teacher selects one of five ratings. The rating is then automatically converted to marks by the ERP system.

Excellent
100%
Outstanding, faithful, clear, mature, and high quality. Consistent effort with visible growth.
Good
80%
Good work with small improvements needed. Regular and mostly consistent.
Satisfactory
60%
Acceptable but basic or sometimes inconsistent. Shows effort but limited depth.
Poor
40%
Weak, irregular, careless, or unclear. Needs significant improvement.
Not Done
0%
Not submitted, absent, or no evidence provided for this area.
How marks are calculated
Each area has a maximum mark. The rating percentage is applied to that maximum. For example: Section A (Digital Ministry) is worth 20 marks. A "Good" rating (80%) gives you 16 marks. An "Excellent" rating gives you 20 marks.

Grade Bands

After all marks are added and any adjustments are applied, your final monthly score produces a grade.

A+
90โ€“100
A
80โ€“89
B+
70โ€“79
B
60โ€“69
C+
50โ€“59
C
45โ€“49
F
Below 45

Your term grade is the average of your three monthly scores.

Example
Month 1: 78 (B+) ยท Month 2: 84 (A) ยท Month 3: 91 (A+)
Term Average: (78 + 84 + 91) รท 3 = 84.33 โ†’ Grade A
5
Important โ€” Grade Cap Rules

Even if your total score is high, your grade may be capped (limited) if you miss certain compulsory requirements. This is to ensure that every student develops all areas of ministry โ€” not just the ones they are strong in.

ConditionMaximum Grade Allowed
Digital Ministry (Section A) not done at allB
Devotional / Biblical Communication (Section B) not doneB
Prayer partner record completely missing (Section C)B
Fasting Prayer attendance below 40% (Section D)C+
No Church / Youth / Main Service Ministry (Section E)B
Biblical content seriously incorrectC+ or review
Evidence doubtful or not verifiedC+ or review
Major discipline issueCoordinator review
Real example of a cap
A student scored 85 in all other sections but did not submit any devotional communication (Section B). Their calculated grade would be A, but because Section B was not done, the ERP automatically caps their grade to B โ€” even though their score is 85.
What You Need to Submit Each Month

Your teacher cannot give you a good rating without evidence. For each area, make sure you are ready to provide the following:

Section A โ€” Digital Ministry

At least one digital ministry piece (video, graphic, reel, etc.) per month
Evidence link or upload (WhatsApp screenshot, YouTube/Instagram link, Google Drive link)
Biblical content must be scripturally correct โ€” teacher will verify
Voice must be clear, graphics must be readable

Section B โ€” Devotional / Biblical Communication

At least one recorded or live devotional, Scripture reading, or short message per month
Proper dress and presentation
Clear voice, good background (for recordings)
Biblical message must be clear and accurate
Time discipline โ€” stay within the required duration

Section C โ€” Prayer and Spiritual Discipline

Submit weekly prayer records โ€” aim for 4 or more per month
Confirm your prayer partner โ€” they must verify your record
Maintain a reflection record alongside your prayer log

Section D โ€” Fasting Prayer

Attend fasting prayer sessions regularly โ€” aim for 75% or above
Be active and engaged, not just present โ€” passive attendance will lower your rating

Section E โ€” Church / Youth / Main Service Ministry

Serve in at least one ministry area per month (singing, media, ushering, etc.)
Your supervisor must verify your involvement
Be faithful and punctual โ€” lateness or carelessness will affect your rating

Section F โ€” Additional Ministry

This section rewards extra effort โ€” it is not compulsory but improves your grade
Submit a description of what you did and get it verified
7
Grade Adjustments

Your teacher may make a small adjustment (up to +5 or โ€“5 marks) to your final score based on factors the dropdown ratings cannot fully capture.

Positive Adjustment ReasonsNegative Adjustment Reasons
Exceptional spiritual attitudePoor attitude or unwillingness
Strong improvement from previous monthLate submission without valid reason
Took leadership beyond assigned dutyBiblical content error
Helped others complete ministry workCareless or copied work
Significant additional ministry with evidenceLack of sincerity in prayer record
Genuine effort despite weakness in skillEvidence doubtful or not verified

Tips for a Strong Monthly Grade
โœ“
Plan ahead. Do not leave digital ministry, devotional communication, or evidence links to the last week of the month.
โœ“
Keep evidence. Save all links, screenshots, and records as you go. It is very difficult to reconstruct them at the end of the month.
โœ“
Be consistent. One excellent piece of work per month is not enough. Consistency across all 6 areas is what the assessment measures.
โœ“
Communicate with your supervisor. Make sure they know you are serving and that they can verify your involvement when asked.
โœ“
Never copy or falsify records. This results in a Negative Adjustment and may be escalated to the Coordinator for review.
โœ“
Do extra ministry. Section F rewards extra effort. Use it to strengthen your final score.
